Drone crashes are pretty common. Besides human error, crashes can also be caused by water damage if you fly when it’s raining or flyaways when there’s a lost connection.

But drones are also expensive, and it’s difficult and costly to have to repair or replace a drone every time you crash it. And sadly, a lot of the repairs or losses may not be covered by the warranty.

Luckily, DJI understands this. That’s why they offer a program like DJI Care Enterprise. So, what is DJI Care Enterprise, and how does it work?

The DJI Care Enterprise offers repairs or replacements for DJI Enterprise products damaged due to user error, water damage, drop damage, collision, or signal interference. The coverage lasts 12 months, and you can only renew it once for an extra 12 months.

Please keep reading to learn more about DJI Care Enterprise and whether it’s worth the money.

Can you get both plans for one drone? #

No. You can only get the Basic or the Plus for one device.

How does DJI Care Enterprise Renew work? #

DJI allows you to extend your DJI Care Enterprise coverage for an extra 12 months with the Renew service.

DJI Care Enterprise Basic Renew #

For the DJI Care Enterprise Basic Renew, you get at least one paid replacement, a warranty extension for 12 months, and DJI will cover all of the repair costs as long as the device was damaged during normal use and it falls within the warranty guidelines.

However, this extension is not available in the EU and UK. A product is eligible for renewal only if it meets the following conditions:

  • You must have already signed up for the DJI Care Enterprise Basic. If you didn’t manage to when the drone was new, you can’t take advantage of the renewal after 12 months.
  • You can only renew if the Basic plan has not expired.
  • If you’ve only spent one of the 2 replacements offered in the Basic plan.

Note: If you signed up for the Basic 2-year plan, you are not eligible for renewal.

DJI Care Enterprise Plus Renew #

For the DJI Care Enterprise Plus Renew, you get a free repair or replacement for an extra 12 months, as long as the drone got damaged when being used under normal conditions.

However, if the cost of the repair or replacement exceeds your coverage amount, you will have to pay the extra amount.

A product is eligible for Plus renewal only if it meets the following conditions:

  • You must have added it to the Plus plan.
  • You should renew before the initial plan expires.
  • You should have a minimum of 30% of the coverage amount remaining in the account.

In which countries is DJI Care Enterprise available? #

DJI Care Enterprise and the renew package are available in the following regions:

  • USA
  • UK
  • EU countries
  • Norway
  • Australia
  • Mainland China
  • Hong Kong
  • Korea
  • Japan
  • Canada
  • Switzerland

Eligibility for getting DJI Care Enterprise #

For your drone to qualify for the DJI Care Enterprise, it should meet one of the following conditions:

  • A brand-new drone that’s not activated.
  • A drone that has been activated within the past 72 hours.
  • A drone that’s been repaired by an authorized DJI technician within 72 hours.

Can DJI Care Enterprise be shared? #

You can’t share coverage for the DJI Care Enterprise Basic or Basic Renew plans. You should opt for the Plus plan to share the coverage between drones and other payloads.

How much does DJI Care Enterprise cost? #

The costs vary depending on the device you have. Visit the DJI Store to check the latest prices and the latest list of supported products.

Do you get a brand new product during replacement? #

Not necessarily, but the product you get will function as well as a brand-new product. But there are situations where people get brand-new products.

How do you activate DJI Care Enterprise? #

Once your drone gets damaged, and you’ve confirmed that the cause of the damage falls within the criteria of the DJI Care Enterprise requirements, collect all the requirements depending on the plan you purchased, the type of damage, and the agreement you signed when purchasing.

Then, submit an Online Repair Request on DJI’s repair services web page and send the device to an authorized DJI repair center.

Repair centers like ferntech.co.nz in New Zealand handle the purchase of the Basic plan and the renewal. Look for a similar service in your locality.

You can choose to have the product repaired or replaced. If you purchased the Basic plan, DJI will analyze the damage and send you a quote. Repairs or replacements will be made after payment is confirmed.

If you purchased the Plus plan, costs for repairs or replacements would be deducted from your coverage amount, and if it’s not enough, you will have to pay the balance.

You can also opt for the DJI Care Express, where you claim accidental damage, and DJI will not have to analyze the product for damage before replacing it.

But you will still have to submit all the damaged products, including batteries and other accessories covered by the plan, and pay the necessary costs.

If you don’t send some of the damaged parts, DJI will most likely not replace them. For instance, if you send the drone without the battery, they may replace the drone, but they will not replace the battery.

Can DJI Reject a repair request? #

Yes, DJI reserves the right to reject a repair request under DJI Care Enterprise for one of the following reasons:

  • Deliberate damage – Some people fly the drone aggressively, especially when they have one replacement left in the coverage. But if DJI found out you deliberately damaged your drone, they would reject your request.
  • Damage caused as a result of wars, coups, military action, terrorist activities, and natural disasters.
  • Products not purchased from DJI-authorized dealers.
  • Damage caused by customizations or modifications not recommended by DJI.
  • Failure to attach all the damaged components of the product.
  • Applications from regions not covered under the DJI Care Enterprise.
  • Damage caused by the use of software and accessories not authorized by DJI.

Is DJI Care Enterprise worth it? #

Considering that it offers comprehensive protection for enterprise products, some of which may cost thousands of dollars, it’s worth it. Replacing such a device out-of-pocket doesn’t sit well with anyone, whether you own these devices for personal use or a business.

Another reason I’d still consider getting the DJI Care Enterprise is that it covers pilot errors, which are often omitted in the warranty. You also get to extend the warranty for one additional year.

However, the fact that you can only get it for a new drone and you can only cover each device once may require looking for a different option, depending on your situation.

Most DJI Enterprise drones last more than two years, so if you are looking for a more long-term solution, you should consider getting insurance for your drone during the coverage or after the DJI Care Enterprise coverage expires.

The good thing about insurance is you can get liability insurance in case you are sued due to activities related to the drone and third-party insurance.
