The Mavic 3 Pro, released in May of 2023, with its three-camera system is a much-appreciated update to the Mavic 3, and the subsequent Mavic 3 Classic.

As such, it shares much of the physical features, hardware, and software of the entire Mavic 3 Series. This also includes the locations of the Mavic 3 Pro’s serial numbers.

Being a large consumer drone weighing over 250 g, the Mavic 3 Pro needs to be registered in the United States.

The registration number of the Mavic 3 Pro is needed to complete that process. Additionally, when purchasing DJI Refresh options, the serial number is required.

Like with the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Classic, the serial number for the DJI Mavic 3 Pro can be located:

  • On the outside of the box that the Mavic 3 Pro originally came in
  • Within the DJI Fly app
  • On the QR code sticker in the battery compartment of the Mavic 3 Pro

We’ll now take a closer look at each of these serial number locations, as well as those for the battery and various remote controllers.

Location of the Mavic 3 Pro’s Serial Number #

Here we’ll discuss where to find the Mavic 3 Pros serial numbers, the serial number for the DJI RC Pro, DJI RC, and DJI RC-N1, as well as the intelligent flight batteries.

Mavic 3 Pro #

The most easily accessible location for the Mavic 3 Pro serial number is at the bottom of the box you received with your Mavic 3 Pro.

In addition to the serial number, you will also see the EAN (European Article Number) and UPC (Universal Product Code).

The second way to access the serial number of the Mavic 3 Pro is through a QR (quick response) code printed within the body of the Mavic 3 Pro.

A QR code is easily recognizable as a square, 2-dimensional, monochromatic scannable barcode. For these types of codes, you would use either your cell phone’s camera or scanner app.

When the QR code is scanned, it launches either a webpage in your phone’s browser, directs you to a particular data source, or displays information.

In the case of the Mavic 3 Pro, when scanning the serial number’s QR code, the full serial number is then displayed on your electronic device.

The location of the Mavic 3 Pro QR code is in an overlooked location in the battery compartment of the Mavic 3 Pro.

To access the QR code, remove the Mavic 3 Pro battery and on the left-hand side, in the battery compartment, you will see the QR code.

Intelligent Flight Battery Serial Numbers #

In addition to there being serial numbers for the DJI Mavic 3 Pro and its respective remote controllers, each individual battery used with the Mavic 3 Pro likewise has serial numbers printed on them.

If there is ever an issue with these batteries, and they are returned to DJI for warranty work, having these serial numbers will be useful.

The serial code for the Mavic 3 Pro batteries is also in QR form and located on the bottom of the battery, where all of the battery information is located.

Serial Number Location in the DJI Fly App #

The third location for the Mavic 3 Pro and remote controller serial numbers is conveniently accessible within the DJI Fly App.

In the DJI Camera View screen, go into the settings.

Go to the About Tab. Within this tab, under SN, you will see a listing of the following serial numbers:

  • Battery SN
  • Aircraft (Mavic 3 Pro) SN
  • Flight Controller SN
  • Remote Controller SN
  • Camera SN

You may notice the flight controller serial number. Per DJI, the flight controller serial number is used for unlocking geo zones.

The flight controller serial number will not be needed when dealing with registration, warranty, or DJI Care Refresh services.

The Mavic 3 Pro, remote controller, and battery serial numbers are used to track and identify the Mavic 3 Pro for registration purposes, insurance claims, or in the event of theft.

FAA and Other Authorities Registration #

When registering a drone in the United States, and in other countries, it is required that any drone over 250 g be registered with that country’s flight authority.

The flight authority responsible for drones in the United States is the FAA (Federal Aviation Authority).

Just like owning and driving a vehicle in the United States, drones likewise need to be registered.

Why is this necessary? This is to hold drone pilots accountable for their flights and to ensure they are flying their drones safely and responsibly.

If you’ve ever registered a drone before, or are even new to doing so, you’ll notice the serial number of the drone being registered is a requirement at the beginning of the process.

DJI Care Refresh & DJI Warranty Work #

When purchasing and using the DJI Care Refresh 1 or 2-year insurance plan, the serial number of your Mavic 3 Pro is a requirement.

Also, if you need to send the Mavic 3 Pro back to DJI for warranty-related repair work, the serial number is also required.

DJI uses the serial number for identification purposes in the warranty process.

Also having the serial number identifies the Mavic 3 Pro as a genuine DJI Drone eligible for Care Refresh.

Regarding warranty work, the serial number helps identify the manufacturing batch of the Mavic 3 Pro as well as ownership information.

During the warranty process, the serial number is then used to keep track of the Mavic 3 Pro throughout the repairs needed on the drone, as well as the warranty status.

Theft Recovery #

Unfortunately, drones do get stolen. In the unfortunate event of drone theft, the drone serial number is a critical piece of information.

With the serial number in hand, both law enforcement authorities and insurance companies can oftentimes identify drones that have been physically recovered, matching them with your drone’s serial number.

Once the drone is recovered, law enforcement will be able to verify and match the serial number with you as the owner and return the drone.

Authenticity Verification #

Having the serial number for the Mavic 3 Pro is useful when verifying that it is an authentic DJI Mavic 3 Pro manufactured by DJI.

This comes into play when buying or selling the Mavic 3 Pro on the used market, whether this be locally (ie Facebook Marketplace) or online.

Although I have never personally seen a knockoff Mavic 3 series drone, I have seen plenty of early-model counterfeit Mavics for sale online.

DJI Support is willing to run the serial number of any DJI drone you might have questions about through their system. They will let you know immediately all there is to know about that particular drone.
