If you are new to DJI drones, something very important that should be done immediately upon opening your Mini 3/Pro is setting up a DJI account to link to your new Mini 3.

By having a DJI account, you’ll be able to:

  • Fly your drone, without altitude and distance limits
  • Unlock Geofenced locations
  • Keep track of flight hours and statistics
  • Download and run automatic firmware updates

This article and the included YouTube video, will be a step-by-step tutorial showing you how to create a brand new DJI account, using your DJI RC.

As the DJI RC and RC-N1 controllers both run the DJI Fly app, setting up a DJI account through the DJI RC is the same process as doing so on a smartphone connected to the RC-N1 controller.

Creating a DJI Account #

Whether you have a few different DJI accounts or none due to being new to the DJI ecosystem, creating a new or 1st DJI account is quite simple through the DJI Fly app, whether done on the DJI RC or a smartphone.

STEP 1: Enable and connect to a WiFi network on the DJI RC.

If this is your first time doing so, access the RCs system settings by double swiping down the notification shade. Once in the settings screen, press and hold the WiFi icon.

This will bring you into the WiFi settings. Here you can connect to your preferred network.

If you’ve previously connected to a WiFi network, on the settings screen, simply tap the WiFi icon and you should connect.

STEP 2: After returning to the Fly App home screen, select Profile.

a) If you are already logged into a DJI account and would like to create a new one, go to settings then log out on the left side of the screen. Accept the confirmation and you will be taken back to the Profile login screen.

b) If you are not already logged into a DJI account and would like to create one, go to Log In and enter your Email. The prompt asks for either a phone number or email, we suggest submitting an email address.

Check the “I have read and agree” box.

If the email address you supplied has not been previously used, you will then be prompted to input a password that is between 8 and 20 characters, as well as input a CAPTCHA.

If you’d like to subscribe to Product News, keep the checkmark in the box. If not, uncheck it then select Register.

You will then be presented with a generic djiuser name.

If you would like to change the generic name to one of your choosing, simply press the name and then change the username on the next screen and click done.

As can be seen, setting up a DJI account via the DJI Fly app is very quick and painless.

If you’d like to set up a DJI account via the internet, prior to purchasing or logging into your new DJI RC, simply go to dji.com from your favorite browser and then choose Register.
