DJI QuickTransfer is a feature that allows you to quickly transfer photos and videos from a DJI drone to your mobile device. However, it can be a real headache if it’s not working correctly. Fortunately, you can take a few steps to get it up and running again.

So, why is the DJI QuickTransfer not working, and how can you fix it?

DJI QuickTransfer may not be working due to firmware issues, app parsing issues, interference by cellular service, or your mobile device or drone could be damaged.

In this article, I’ll provide helpful tips on troubleshooting and fixing your DJI QuickTransfer issue.

I’ll also share some of the most common causes of this issue and what you can do to prevent it from happening again.

What is DJI QuickTransfer? #

DJI QuickTransfer allows you to quickly and easily transfer photos and videos from your DJI drone to your smartphone or tablet.

It is available on several DJI drones and is designed to make it convenient for users to access and share the content they have captured during their flights.

To use DJI QuickTransfer, you must connect your smartphone or tablet to the drone’s WiFi network and open the DJI Fly app.

Both WiFi and Bluetooth should be switched on your smartphone.

Next, you need to switch on the QuickTransfer feature by pressing the button once, then a second time, and hold until the LEDs light up and are colored blue.

This button appears in different locations on the drone. For instance, on the Mini 2, it’s at the bottom, but on the Mini 3 Pro, it’s at the rear top.

When the QuickTransfer is on, you will get a prompt on the DJI Fly App asking you to join QuickTransfer. Click on it and follow the prompts to connect to the drone.

You can select the photos and videos you want to transfer by clicking “View Album” and tapping the Download button to begin the transfer process.

DJI QuickTransfer uses a high-speed, low-latency connection to transfer the files, which means the process should be fast and efficient.

One of the benefits of using DJI QuickTransfer is that it allows you to transfer large files in their best quality quickly and easily, even if you do not have a stable internet connection.

This can be particularly useful if you are flying in a remote location or on the go and don’t have time to deal with SD cards.

Additionally, DJI QuickTransfer is designed to be user-friendly and easy to use, making it a convenient option for transferring photos and videos from your drone to your smartphone or tablet.

If you are experiencing issues with DJI QuickTransfer not working on your drone, there are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

1. Update the firmware on your drone #

One of the first steps you should take when trying to resolve issues with DJI QuickTransfer is to ensure that your drone is running the latest firmware version.

Newer firmware versions often fix bugs and improve overall performance, so keeping your drone up to date is important.

You will always get a prompt when there’s a new firmware update. If you don’t, you can check for and install updates through the DJI Fly or DJI Go 4 app or the DJI Assistant 2.

2. Check the app #

Before doing anything else, try to uninstall and reinstall the app to make sure the app was installed and parsed correctly. This method has fixed many issues I have had with my drone.

If you are using an Android phone, making sure that the DJI app has been granted all necessary permissions is essential. These permissions are necessary for the app to be able to function correctly.

3. Connect your phone to the drone’s WiFi network #

For the QuickTransfer function to work correctly, your phone needs to be connected to the drone’s WiFi network.

Ensure the connection is strong and stable, as a weak or unstable connection may cause issues with the QuickTransfer function.

One way to do this is to switch off other WiFi networks you may have to prevent them from interfering with the QuickTransfer process. And if your device is connected to any other WiFi network, disconnect it too.

4. Switch off cellular data #

If it’s still not working, try using the smartphone while in airplane mode but switch on the WiFi and Bluetooth separately.

For many users, cellular service can interfere with QuickTransfer, and they have to switch it off or resort to using the mobile device when in airplane mode.

Using it in airplane mode also helps since background apps that could be running, such as VPNs, could block the QuickTransfer.

5. Reset the WiFi settings on your phone and drone #

If you have already tried the steps mentioned above and are still experiencing issues with DJI QuickTransfer, try resetting the WiFi settings on your phone and drone.

Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues with the QuickTransfer function. This helps establish a new connection between the two devices, which helps to resolve any issues you are experiencing.

6. Check the frequency band settings #

The frequency band the QuickTransfer operates on may be restricted.

In such a case, you need to change it or allow the drone to select the appropriate frequency depending on the region you are operating in.

o do this, set the frequency to Auto or DualBand.

7. Use a different phone or device to test the QuickTransfer function #

Another method you can try is using a different phone or device to test the QuickTransfer function. This can help to determine whether the issue is with the drone or with the device you are using.

8. Maintain the appropriate distance between your phone and drone #

DJI QuickTransfer is designed to work over short distances, so it’s important to ensure that you are within a reasonable distance from your drone when attempting to use the function. It may not function properly if you are too far from your drone.

9. Check device storage #

This may not always be the case, but the QuickTransfer option may fail to work if you do not have enough storage on your mobile device.

Make sure you have enough storage, and if not, insert an SD card into the mobile device.

10. Contact DJI support for assistance #

If you have tried all of these steps and are still experiencing issues with DJI QuickTransfer, please contact DJI support for further assistance.

The company’s customer service team should be able to provide you with additional guidance and help you resolve any issues you are experiencing.

11. Transfer from the SD card #

If everything else fails, you can insert an SD card in the drone, and after filming, insert this SD card in the smartphone or laptop and transfer the footage.

This method often takes longer and may expose the SD card to damage, but it will still get you unaltered high-quality footage from the drone.

12. Ask in online forums for additional troubleshooting tips from other pilots #

I suggest checking our online community at DronePilots.com to see if others are experiencing similar issues with DJI QuickTransfer. There may be additional troubleshooting steps or solutions that other users have shared.
