In September 2016, DJI released one of its best drones, the DJI Mavic Pro. This small drone has since inspired many other drones with its reliable 4K camera and 3-axis gimbal. DJI Mavic Pro was the first portable drone that could fly over 20 minutes in the air. This piece of technology changed the world of photography, and its accessible price makes it the complete package.

If you are an owner of DJI Mavic Pro, you may be looking for the best tablet to use with it. Tablets are convenient and offer better visibility and screen size. Keep reading to find out which tablets I recommend for use with your DJI Mavic Pro.

1. Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 #

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is an excellent option for your drone. Although the previous S2 caused some problems to drone owners, this one turned out to be amazing. Its biggest benefit is the expandable memory of 256 GB via microSD.

Many switched from iPads to this tablet, because of its big and bright screen, especially useful if you’re trying to see the screen in bright sun. The CPU is fast, and your DJI GO app will work without glitching and disrupting the video feed. You can set the app video to 1080 HD quality, and Galaxy Tab S3 will handle it like a boss. You will get videos with incredible colors and contrast. Many claim it has one of the best screens they have ever had.

It also links to the P4P with no problems, if you’re trying to use it with that drone as well. Updates go smoothly with no issues. And you don’t need to worry about battery life at all – it lasts 12 hours while recording, editing, and playing videos continuously.

The touchscreen is sensitive, so you will not have any problems using it with some of the tap and fly features. If you want a good and affordable tablet for your DJI Mavic Pro, check it out for yourself here.

2. DJI CrystalSky #

DJI created this monitor/tablet, especially for outdoor aerial photography. Although it is not a multipurpose tablet like others, it still offers you a functional display for taking the best shots.

DJI designed this monitor specifically for other drone models, but it works fine with the DJI Mavic Pro. The best thing about this device is an ultra-bright display which can get four times brighter than a common tablet or smartphone screen. It means you will never have problems with the display when it is super sunny.

Thanks to its high resolution of 1920x1080p on the 5.5’’ model and 2048x1536p on the 7.85’’ model, images will look sharp and clean. And the DJI Crystal Sky decodes video in real-time with minimal latency.

There are no unnecessary Android apps on it to slow you down or interrupt your flight session, and you are safe from viruses. It has an embedded DJI GO app that gives you full access to every DJI GO feature such as camera control and footage management. If you ever go out of Wi-Fi reach, you can easily access Maps using offline maps.

Dual Micro SD slots help you extend storage and play recorded videos back directly on the monitor. The battery lasts about 3-4 hours.

3. iPad Mini 4  #

Apple tablets are usually among the best for DJI drones, including the Mavic Pro. Many users claim that flying with the iPad Mini 4 is a wholly unique experience. Let’s see why.

The iPad Mini 4 has the perfect 7.90-inch display (2048 x 1536). The display works well in the bright sun. Also, its excellent 5124 mAh battery will last enough for you to record at least up to 10 hours!

The Mini 4 is similar to iPad Air 2 but smaller and lighter. Because of the iOs 10 version, the speed is more than enough for the DJI GO App, despite its 2 GB RAM.

The tablet will not disappoint you, especially with image quality, giving you the best image possible.

There are both Wi-Fi and Cellular models. With the Cellular model, you have access to Maps straight from the iPad compared to preloading the Maps on the iPad with Wi-Fi beforehand.

I highly recommend the iPad Mini 4 if you want a reliable and responsive tablet that will work with your Mavic Pro and smoothly run the DJI GO app. Find it on Amazon and enjoy your flight.

4. Nvidia Shield K1 #

There is no doubt the Nvidia Shield K1 is one of the most popular tablets among DJI users. It has Wi-Fi and Cellular included and a super 4k UHD bright screen that offers a clear view even in direct sunlight. I recommend you try this tablet because of its good specifications and HDMI port. That is a real advantage over other conventional tablets.

The HDMI port allows you to connect the tablet to your drone’s controller. With a bit of searching through software settings, you can even manage to connect FPV goggles and enjoy a wonderful experience.

For an affordable price, you will get faster processing power and extra storage. It is a perfect addition to your DJI Mavic Pro. You will not experience any lagging nor glitching, plus it works smoothly with the DJI GO app.

Get Nvidia Shield K1 now and see for yourself why many drone owners recommend it.

5. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 #

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is among the best tablets Samsung has ever made. Besides, it is a brilliant choice for your DJI Mavic Pro drone. With its high-quality display, most of the screen space goes to the FPV image. You will definitely enjoy its 2048×1536 screen resolution and crystal clear FPV with perfect brightness/contrast ratio.

The best feature I find about this tablet is its smooth performance. You will not come across any problem along the way. Combine 1.8GHz quad-core processor and a 1.4GHz Octa-core processor with an AMOLED display, and you will realize why the S2 is such a popular choice.

However, keep in mind that you may sometimes experience a little bit of lagging between in-screen footage and the current position of your drone. There is nothing to worry about since it often happens with most tablets.

6. Google Nexus 7 and 9 #

It is no surprise that this Android tablet is on the list. The Google Nexus, 2013 model, is a decent tablet for your Mavic Pro.

For a fair price, you will get a 1920×1200 display that is even lighter than the iPad Mini, at only 0.64 pounds. You will enjoy a high-quality and customizable experience.

It is a smaller device, but it will provide you with plenty of battery life, which will come in handy when flying and recording for a longer time.

Its upgraded version, the Nexus 9 is also excellent and will make you happy with the super-fast NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. I suggest you try this tablet because of its bright 8.9” inch screen and high-quality construction. I should not forget to mention the 16 GB Flash Memory and 2 GB RAM Memory, which is difficult to resist. The tablet also works well with DJI Go App.

Check out Google Nexus 7 and Google Nexus 9 now.

7. Samsung Galaxy Tab S6  #

I have to include one more Android tablet—the Samsung Galaxy tab S6. The tablet has a great Snapdragon 855 processor. Do not worry about getting sharp and colorful images because its AMOLED display 2560x1600p 10.5” will not disappoint.

This device is a little more expensive, but you will not regret it, especially since it has a great battery life, 15 hours of playback.

If you want an alternative for Galaxy Tab S6, try the Galaxy Tab A. This tablet has a 10.1” display with a resolution of 1920x1200p. It is more than capable of running the DJI Go App because of its Octa-core Exynos 7870 processor. This model is perfect for those looking for a cheap but reliable tablet.

8. iPad Air 2 #

iPad Air 2 is another popular choice for the DJI Mavic Pro, with its display resolution of 2048×1536 (QXGA). Experience has shown that the DJI Go App runs best and is most stable on iOS.

This iPad is heavier (444 grams) and a bit more expensive. But it’s worth it for the latest iOS 10 version, and you can install iOS 11 as well, with no problems.

Thanks to the standard apps (that are free) such as iMovie, the iPad is also great for cutting small films directly on the tablet.

If you plan to cut very many or longer videos on the tablet, I suggest you get an iPad 2 Air with a good amount of storage space since you cannot expand it once purchased. You can connect the tablet via the USB charging table at the bottom of the remote control. It is advisable to order a second cable at the same time.

Find your iPad Air 2 here.

This completes my list of recommended tablets for use with the  DJI Mavic Pro. Your drone will work perfectly with them, but keep in mind that you will need an additional adapter to mount it properly. No matter the size of the tablet, you can always use a tablet holder. It gives you more room for a variety of tablet sizes and helps you position the tablet for flying.
