There are plenty of high-quality and amazing Syma drones out there, and they’re a great choice for beginners. That said, as easy as it is for most Syma drones to connect with smartphones, you may still need some help in case you are having trouble in that department. That’s because some instructions may not be as clear as you may have wanted them to be. So, how do you connect to a Syma drone?

Connecting to your Syma drone requires that you connect your phone to the drone’s Wi-Fi network. From there, all you need to do is to make sure you downloaded the right Syma app so that you will be able to seamlessly configure the connection and control the drone from the app.

As easy as it should be to connect your Syma drone to your phone, it can still be a bit tricky for beginners or for those who have never owned a Syma drone before. That’s why we’re here to show you how you can easily connect your Syma drones to your phone. The steps might vary somewhat depending on the model of drone you have, and the app that goes along with it to complete the connection.

How To Connect To Syma X25 Pro #

Step 1: Download the app #

The first thing you need to do when you want to connect to the Syma X25 Pro is to download its companion flight app. Unlike the older Syma drones, the X25 Pro uses the newer Syma Fly app, which you can download for Android and iOS for free. You can also scan the QR code on the manual to immediately take your phone to the download page of the app.

Step 2: Power on the drone #

After you have downloaded the Syma X25 Pro’s app, which is the Syma Fly app, you need to turn on the drone itself. Attach the drone’s battery and turn it on. The indicator lights will turn green after you turn on the drone. Turning your drone on will allow it to transmit its own Wi-Fi signal, which you will use to connect with your phone.

Step 3: Connect via Wi-Fi #

On your phone, go to your Wi-Fi settings and then look for your Syma X25 Pro’s Wi-Fi network. Make sure that you know your drone’s password, which should be on the drone or on its manual. Input the password to connect your phone to your drone via Wi-Fi.

Step 4: Complete the setup #

When your drone and your phone are connected to one another, the next thing you need to do is to complete the setup by going to your Syma Fly app. From there, all you need to do is to follow the on-screen instructions for you to configure the setup and make sure that your drone is ready for flying. You can even fly your Syma X25 Pro using your phone and without the use of the controller.

How To Connect To Syma X8 Pro #

Step 1: Download the app #

The Syma X8 Pro uses the older but well-established Syma FPV app that you can easily download for free for Android or iOS. You can also use the QR codes on the drone’s manual to easily navigate your way to the app so that you don’t have to search for it. Downloading the app is the first step you need to take when you want to connect your Syma X8 Pro to your phone.

Step 2: Turn the drone on #

Once you have downloaded the app, the next thing you need to do is to turn your Syma X8 Pro on. Make sure the battery is properly installed and fully charged before turning on your drone. Once connected to the power source, allow the drone to initialize for a few seconds until its lights begin to flash. When the lights flash red, that is when you know that the drone is prepared to get connected to a smartphone.

Step 3: Connect to the drone via Wi-Fi #

Once the drone is turned on and is ready to connect to a smartphone, the next thing you need to do is to open your settings on your smartphone and then go to your Wi-Fi connections. Look for the Syma FPV Wi-Fi connection, which is your drone’s own Wi-Fi network. Connect to it and just simply enter the given password if the network asks for one. You will now be able to connect to the drone via Wi-Fi.

Step 4: Complete the settings #

When you have connected to your drone via Wi-Fi, you need to open your Syma FPV app on your smartphone. Click Start to see that your drone and your phone are now connected to one another. If there are any settings that you need to configure, simply follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure that you always check the signal icon so that you will know how strong the signal between the two devices is.

How To Connect To Syma Z1 #

Step 1: Download the app #

Your Syma Z1 drone runs on the Syma Fly app. Simply download the app on your smartphone as this app should be available for both Android and iOS. You can also go to the manual and scan the QR code to quickly take your smartphone to the app download page. It is important that you download the app because you won’t be able to properly control your Z1 without it.

Step 2: Turn the drone on #

When you have downloaded the app, simply turn on your Syma Z1 and make sure that it has a full battery before starting the connection process. Allow the Z1 to initialize as it may make a few noises and will flash its indicator lights. When the drone has fully initialized, it is now ready to be connected with your smartphone and is now transmitting its own Wi-Fi network.

Step 3: Connect to the drone via Wi-Fi #

The moment that your drone has fully initialized, go to your smartphone and then open its settings. Go to the Wi-Fi connection settings and look for the Syma Wi-Fi network of your drone. You may be asked to input the password for your Syma Z1 but the password should be on your drone. Simply input the password and you’re now connected to your drone via Wi-Fi.

Step 4: Complete the settings #

After connecting to your drone’s Wi-Fi network, you should be able to see the setup steps once you open the Syma Fly app on your smartphone. Simply go to your app, and if you see that there is a Start icon that you can press on, that means that your phone and drone are connected. Complete any of the settings and configurations that the app will ask you to do and you are now ready to fly your Syma Z1.

How To Connect to Syma Z3 #

Step 1: Download the app #

The Syma Z3 is similar to the Z1 in that they both use the Syma Fly app. They are different drones but they connect in practically the same way. So, what you need to do first is to download the Syma Fly app on your Android or iOS device to be able to connect your phone to the drone. The app is free and can be downloaded by scanning the QR code on your manual or by simply making a quick search on the app store.

Step 2: Turn the drone on #

Once you have the app on your smartphone, turn on your Syma Z3 and make sure that it has fully initialized before moving on to the next step. Your Z3 should be fully initialized about 20 to 30 seconds after you turned its power on. From there, it is now ready to connect to a smartphone via the drone’s own Wi-Fi signal.

Step 3: Connect to the drone via Wi-Fi #

After your drone has fully initialized and is now ready to be connected to your smartphone, go to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings. Look for your Z3’s Wi-Fi network to connect to it. If you are asked for a passcode, give the one that is included with your drone. You can find the passcode either on the drone itself or in the owner’s manual. Connecting to your drone via Wi-Fi will allow your smartphone to use it through the Syma Fly app.

Step 4: Complete the settings #

Once you have connected the two devices via Wi-Fi, the next thing to do is to complete the settings by opening your Syma Fly app. You will be able to confirm that the two devices are connected when the app gives you the option to start using your drone. From there, all you need to do is to follow the instructions to complete the calibration of your drone so that you can now fly it.

How To Connect to Syma X22W #

Step 1: Download the app #

The Syma X22W uses the Syma Go app, which you can download for both Android and iOS for free. All you need to do is to go to your app store and then search for the app. Or you can also scan the QR code included with the drone’s manual. Downloading this app is the first step you need to take to connect your Syma X22W to your smartphone.

Step 2: Turn the drone on #

After downloading the Syma Go app, the next thing you need to do is to turn your Syma X22W on. You need to hold the power button for 10 seconds until you see the lights on the drone turning on. When the lights are now flashing, that means that the Syma X22W’s Wi-Fi is now transmitting and the drone is now ready to be connected to your smartphone.

Step 3: Connect to the drone via Wi-Fi #

Go back to your smartphone and then go to its Wi-Fi settings. You will be able to see a network called “FPV-WiFi”. Simply allow your phone to connect to that Wi-Fi network and you will be able to establish a connection between your phone and your drone through Wi-Fi. Exit the settings and then continue.

Step 4: Complete the settings #

When you have connected the two devices via Wi-Fi, all you need to do now is to open your Syma Go app, which should be able to allow you to click the Start icon. This should confirm that the connection between your phone and the Syma X22W has been established. If there are any on-screen instructions you need to follow, simply do them and you will be able to fly your drone using your smartphone and its controller.

How To Connect to Syma X23W #

Step 1: Download the app #

Like the Syma X22W, the Syma X23W uses the same app called Syma Go. Again, this app should be available in your Android or iOS app store for free. Just simply search for it or you can scan the QR code on the manual of your Syma X23W drone. Downloading the app is important because the app allows you to have full control over your drone.

Step 2: Turn the drone on #

Once the app has been downloaded, go to your drone. Connect the Syma X23W to its power source (fully charged battery) and turn on its power until you see the camera lights turning green. This will require you to hold the power button for 10 seconds, and then you will be able to see the indicator light turning on. That means that your drone is now ready to connect to a smartphone via Wi-Fi.

Step 3: Connect to the drone via Wi-Fi #

Go to your smartphone once the drone has fully initialized. In the smartphone’s settings, go to its Wi-Fi connections and connect to the “FPV-WiFi” network that you will see in the list of available networks. Simply connect to that network so that a connection between the drone and the smartphone will be established. You can now exit the settings.

Step 4: Complete the settings #

When your drone and your smartphone are connected to one another via Wi-Fi, you should now go to your Syma Go app. If you see the option to press Start in your app, that means that the connection was successful. Your Syma Go app may require you to calibrate and complete the settings of your drone. Simply do so to be ready to fly your Syma X23W.

Why Won’t My Drone Connect? #

Connecting to a Syma drone shouldn’t be that hard because the connection process is very simple and easy to follow. However, even if you do follow the instructions completely, there are some cases where you might still struggle to connect. That said, try these quick fixes:

  • Make sure you downloaded the right app. Even if you were able to connect the two devices together using Wi-Fi, you will not be able to complete the connection unless you use the correct app. There are different Syma drones that use different apps, and that is why you need to make sure you download the correct one.
  • Turn off your mobile data connection when establishing a connection with your Syma drone over Wi-Fi, because you want your phone to focus on connecting with your drone’s Wi-Fi network.
  • Close other apps on your phone. All of the background apps that are using memory or are using the internet should be closed as well. You don’t want your smartphone to be full of bloatware while connecting with your drone.
  • Try disconnecting all of the other devices that are connected to your smartphone such as Bluetooth devices like headphones.
  • Make sure that your drone’s battery is full during the first time you connect it with your phone.
  • Use a newer phone. If you are using a very old phone, try using a new one because the old phone might not be compatible with your Syma drone.
