Which phones can you use with the Mini 2?

Considering that the DJI Mini 2 came out in 2020, any phones produced then or earlier should be compatible. That’s even the case with some newer phones such as the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Of course, it’s more than just Apple and Android phones that are workable with the DJI Mini 2.

Keep reading for an extensive list of phones that are compatible with this drone as well as those that aren’t.

These phones are compatible with the DJI Mini 2 #

As a caveat, the DJI Fly app is always updating its list of compatible smartphones (and tablets too, for that matter).

Thus, while this list is accurate at the time of publication, we cannot guarantee that it will always be that way.

If anything, more phones will likely be added to the list rather than models being taken away.

Apple Phones #

As of 2022, the latest version of the DI Fly app supports Apple devices that are running the operating system iOS 11 (or later).

While you can download a version of the app that supports iOS 10, that might not be stable.

You’re better off using an Apple phone running iOS 11 than seeking a workaround.

Here are some Apple phone models for you to use with your Mini 2 drone:

We know what you’re thinking. Some of these phone models seem a little too old to be capable of running iOS 11, right?

Not according to Apple! Per this support page on its website, a lot of older iPhone models are compatible with that operating system.

Thus, there’s not necessarily any need for you to run out and buy the latest iPhone to use your Mini 2 and the DJI Fly app.

That said, if you can, it’s always better to go with a newer phone model than an older one.

It’s not merely because the newer iPhones have bigger screens and improved resolutions. They run the operating systems more stably.

Samsung Phones #

Perhaps you’re not so big into iPhones and you prefer Android phones instead.

Samsung produces a lot of phones, more than Apple.

Due to the sheer multitude, DJI lacks the time to test every single one for compatibility. Only those Samsung phones that are moderately successful qualify for DJI testing.

Thus, while the list to follow is complete as far as our knowledge is concerned, there may yet be more Samsung phones that are compatible with the Mini 2 and the DJI Fly app that are lesser known.

While it’s unlikely that the following phones would become incompatible due to the aforementioned testing, that could be a possibility as well.

For a while, Samsung phones using the Android 10 operating system were not compatible with the DJI Fly app. That issue was fixed quite a while ago in January 2021, once again making those devices compatible with the Mini 2.

Google Phones #

Google is quite a popular smartphone manufacturer as well. Perhaps it’s not quite to the same level as Apple or Samsung, but the chances are good that some of you reading this have a Google phone.

Maybe you’re even reading this on a Google phone!

Not many Google devices are compatible with the DJI Fly app, which means you can’t use them with the Mini 2.

Life’s good with an LG smartphone, especially if yours is in the G or V Series, as those smartphones are compatible with the Mini 2.

Vivo Phones #

A smaller phone manufacturer still is Vivo. This Chinese company does have a few smartphones that should be compatible with the Mini 2.

As a word of warning, some of these phone models were only tested by DJI drone users. It’s unclear if DJI tested these Vivo phones for DJI Fly app compatibility.

Regardless, these Vivo phones should be usable with the Mini 2 drone.

Another smaller smartphone manufacturer from China is OnePlus. Following the same numbering pattern as seen in iPhones, most newer OnePlus phones should be usable with your Mini 2.

Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications Corp. or OPPO for short is a Chinese consumer electronics brand.
